Privacy Policy

The short version

Tempo Focus stores your sessions, achievements, and schedules on your device and in your private iCloud database. The AI coach runs entirely on-device using Apple Intelligence — nothing you type ever leaves your iPhone. No analytics, no advertising SDKs, no tracking, no third-party API calls.

Data we collect

• Focus sessions — date, duration, category, completion status. Stored on your device and synced to your private iCloud database via CloudKit.
• Achievements & streaks — computed from your sessions. Stored alongside.
• Blocking schedules — the hours and days you set. Stored alongside.
• Preferences — daily goal, theme, name, haptics and notifications toggles. Stored in iOS UserDefaults.
• App selection for blocking — the apps and websites you pick. Stored as opaque tokens by Apple's Family Controls. We never see the underlying app names.

Data we do not collect

• No identifiers (no advertising ID, no IDFV, no email, no account).
• No analytics or telemetry.
• No crash reports beyond Apple's own opt-in system reports.
• No location data.
• No contacts, photos, or microphone access.

The AI coach

The AI coach uses Apple's on-device Foundation Models framework, part of Apple Intelligence. When you tap the wand to break down a task or request a focus tip, the request runs entirely on your iPhone. Your task descriptions, prompts, and the model's replies never leave the device. There is no server, no API key, no third-party LLM provider, and no network call.

If your device doesn't support Apple Intelligence, the AI coach falls back to a generic 3-step template (no network call) for task breakdowns, and an external quotes API for inspirational tips. The quotes API is called without any user-provided content or identifier.

Apple Screen Time & Family Controls

Tempo Focus uses Apple's Family Controls framework to apply blocking shields to apps you select. Apple keeps the actual app identities private; the app receives only opaque tokens. DeviceActivity applies your schedules in the background. None of this data leaves your device.

iCloud sync

Your sessions and achievements are stored in your private CloudKit database, accessible only to you, signed in with your Apple ID. No one else, including the developer, can read this data. Disabling iCloud in iOS Settings stops sync; data remains local.

Data retention & export

You can export every session and achievement as JSON or CSV from Settings → Data. You can also wipe everything with one tap (Settings → Data → Reset all data). When you delete the app, locally stored data is removed by iOS; CloudKit data is removed when you sign out of iCloud or wipe the iCloud container.

Children

Tempo Focus is not directed at children under 13. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone, including children.

Changes

If this policy changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top. Substantive changes will be flagged in release notes.
